Banksy mainly uses stencils and his work is often satirical or comical and sometimes has a political nature. I actually got to see some of his work when I went to New Orleans a few years ago because he did some work in NOLA after Katrina hit. Here is one of the ones that I got to see. This is actually on one of the levees that broke a few miles from the break.
This is another one that I got to see in NOLA but it looks like since then someone has gone through and spray-painted over it which I think is a total shame. Before it was spray-painted over it was a piece of art but now it is a covered up piece of art and the cover up doesn't even look good. At least have the decency to match the color to the wall...

ReplyDeleteI love Banksy's work. I didn't realize how far his art had stretched until I saw Exit Through the Gift Shop. Glad you got to see some of it up close. I love the simple ones like the fly away umbrella and there are a few he did in the Arab Emirates that were lovely too.
